My Students
I believe that all students can learn with the appropriate support and curricular resources. The students in my school come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Within my school, approximately 55% of my students are Caucasian, 35% are African American, and 10% are Haitian/Creole, Hispanic, or Asian American. 20% of my students have Individual Education Plans for a variety of learning disabilities and an additional 5% have 504 Intervention Plans. Upwards of 80% of our students qualify for free or reduced rate lunch, resulting in school-wide free breakfast and lunch programming.
My Project
I am the color guard coach for the competitive high school marching band color guard at my school. Due to rising numbers of marching members as well as wear and tear on the current equipment, my students need some new poles to spin during the next few upcoming competitive seasons. By helping to fund this project, our band boosters can focus on purchasing flag silks to put on these poles as well as provide equipment for the marching musicians in our marching band. Together, we can provide quality marching arts experiences for the students in our ensemble by giving them the fundamental tools that they need in order to perform.
