Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Summarizing a typical day in my classroom is not an easy task as no two days are alike! In general, my students participate in a variety of tasks all aimed at increasing their independence as they become young adults. My goal for my students is that they grow into positive members of society.
My students are freshmen through seniors in a cluster program for students with moderate cognitive impairments.
Their abilities and disabilities all vary from readers to non-readers, from those who can solve word problems to those who are still working on learning their colors and numbers. Although they are different, they have one thing in common, their determination.
My students work hard to exceed the world's expectations of them. My school is a large Chicago public high school. The students here are incredibly supportive of my students and welcome them as central members of the school community.
My Project
This project is designed to add comfort to our classroom and to keep it clean! We need antibacterial spray during this flu season to keep everything clean and germ-free!
We currently have a rug on the classroom floor but, need some big bean bag pillows for students to lounge on when they need a break or want to play a game on the floor with friends!
Finally, we need essential oils that help keep our classroom smelling good which lets our students stay focused and continue with their learning throughout the day! These items will really go a long way!
