The instrumental music students at our middle school are an amazing and diverse group of kids! Our school is working very hard to reach academic accreditation and these students are leaders in that charge!
The majority of our kids come from lower income families and a large number don't speak English as their first language.
But none of that stops them from coming to class each day, excited and ready to make beautiful music! They aren't afraid of any challenge and are working towards being the best musicians they can be.
My Project
The instrumental music program at our school is bursting at the seams! We have tripled our population in the last three years and our classroom supplies can't seem to keep up. The current music stands at BMS are wobbly, bent and broken. Sometimes our students spend more of their class time picking their music up from the floor than playing. In some cases, there are three students using the same music stand during class because there aren't enough that are usable to go around.
Having new, solid music stands will help them get better use of their rehearsal time and become better musicians!
