My students are innovative deep thinkers who are curious about the world around them. They strive to do their personal best every day. They are constantly pondering, questioning and exploring new ideas both inside the classroom and outside in nature.
This particular group of middle schoolers is unique with the way they face problems head-on with an open mind.
They are persistent, diligent and collaborative thinkers. Their passion for learning inspires me as a teacher to be creative and innovative with my own teaching. They push me to be the best teacher I can be.
My Project
I am looking to purchase a set of six 3D pens to help my students bring to life their creative ideas. Each day I am blown away by the ingenious ideas they are able to draw through scale diagrams. I would love the opportunity to help my students bring their creative ideas to a 3-D representation.
The 3-D pens would be integrated into many aspects of our curriculum with a special emphasis on robotic engineering, DNA, chemistry, and physics.
My students would get a chance to learn first hand how to feel a sense of accomplishment through multiple drafts, perseverance, and hard work.
The students would be able to sketch their idea for a robotic function they are envisioning and print it. This would give them the opportunity to see the real world engineering process of trial and error in the classroom. They would brainstorm collaboratively as a group, design, print and then test out their printed model on their robot. This process is a crucial part of the engineering model and a 3-D pens would deeply enhance this program.
