I teach at a low income, Title I school. My students come from wonderful, hard working families where they get free breakfast and lunches. My students are smart and amazing. They are so curious and have a love for learning. They are reading what few books I have, but they are worn out and need to be replaced. Most of the books I have, I have bought from thrift stores, or yard sales. I would love to get some new, updated books that are more culturally appropriate into our classroom. Books that are more diversified and will speak to more children. Ones that will spark more levels of enjoyment. I want to bring some excitement into our classroom. I want to fulfill that need and make reading a memorable experience. This years class especially, really care about each other, and help each other, and I would love to find more books on friendship for them. Thanks for helping us with their learning.
My Project
With these new books, I will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom in the classroom that I strive to create. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time. I have been wanting to buy more books for them, but was lacking the funds to be able to do so. With your help, I will be able to do so.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word. I love looking up and seeing my students reading whenever they have a spare moment. Having more books available, will only help with their love of books. Thank you for your help!
