Black Student Union is an multicultural extracurricular club. Students are in grades 9th-12th.
Black Student Union's main purpose and goal to educate all students on Black culture and become a support network that will result in higher academic achievement, increased positive behavior and a greater level of civic responsibility on the part of Black students.
"I was a member of the Black Student Union, part of the central committee at San Francisco State. During the 1968 strike there, I was certainly very much involved in the activities that occurred on campus. It was part of an extraordinary period in my life." -Danny Glover
In the last two years, BSU on our campus has become a force. Students led a Black Lives Matter at School Town hall meeting with over 200 participants, have held a Welcome Black Week, Melanin Mondays celebrating beauty in all shades, participating in district Black History Month Program, Yoga days and so much more...
They are intelligent, kind, social justice oriented, driven, and humble...I am proud to advise all of their efforts each year.
In the midst of over a year of virtual school, students need a safe space to enjoy each other in an educational environment. The goal of this project is to help secure an outdoor movie screen and projector so BSU can have outdoor social events, including movie nights, karaoke, informational meetings, and gaming tournaments.
BSU on our campus has hosted amazing community events and school wide events that have large turnouts.
