This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to school each day hungry to learn. They strive for greatness and always give their best effort. I teach in an extremely low-income area of Detroit. My students are strong. They have overcome things in their life that no child should have to endure.
My students are products of their experiences.
They want to learn and grow. They love trying new things and always accept any challenge. My students work together to not only challenge each other but to help each other. We are a family.
My Project
My students love hands-on learning in science. Tickle me plants are so much fun! With these kits, my students will be able to watch their plant grow from a seed.
My students will get to plant their seed, water it daily, and watch it grow!
This will help my students see the life cycle of a plant and will also help them to identify the parts of a plant. Seeing a plant grow and viewing the parts of a plant are a lot different than looking at it on paper. My students will also get to touch the leaves once the plants get a certain size and will watch the leaves close on their own (because they are ticklish!)
