My Students

Students love hands-on learning in any form. Fortunately, our school has been afforded one of the greatest opportunities for students to learn about the growing process.

Our school has five raised vegetable garden beds.

Students from Pre -K through third grade love to go and tend the school garden. The students love planting seeds, watering them, and watching them grow.

Students have participated in every aspect of the gardening process and have loved watching their hard work pay off. Pre-K students learned about seeds in their classroom and planted lima beans. 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students participated in an After-School academy and planted seedlings. They also designed and built a compost bin along with a rock garden.

Our students love to garden. They are caring and responsible. They love to participate in gardening.

My Project

The watering cans that I have requested will help my students by allowing all of the students in the class to water the vegetables that they are growing.

Currently, students have to take turns because we have a limited number of watering cans.

Our school garden also has no water access so students have to fill a wheelbarrow with water and transport it to the garden area. Although the students enjoy all aspects of gardening, their favorite part is watering the plants.

The class set of watering cans will allow all students to get an equal opportunity to water the vegetables they have planted.
