My Students

Do you remember reading boring stories on worksheets or out of date non-fiction texts? We do too!

Our students attend a Title 1, high-needs school in New York.

They are curious, hungry to read, and ready to read to learn about the world around them. They need more nonfiction material to dive into at school and take home to add to their home library.

My Project

Scholastic News: Help our third graders make the important transition from learning-to-read to reading-to-learn with this exciting, current-events magazine. Engaging, on-level informational text builds core language arts skills while supporting the Common Core Standards. Plus, prepare students for standardized tests with reading activities and practice tests. DynaMath: This engaging math magazine uses short nonfiction articles to show students the variety of ways math is used in everyday life and links math to other curriculum areas like science, technology, and current events. Each issue integrates practice problems into the high-interest, nonfiction articles to make problem solving an essential part of the reading experience.

Third grade is a crucial year, as they are transitioning into reading to learn.

Let's help them by putting great non-fiction in front of them! We want to learn about current events, know about the world in which we live and find our place in it!
