I am a library media specialist at an elementary school in RI. My school is one of 5 elementary schools in the district. This will be my first year in the district, and I really want to put together a MakerSpace for students and also provide them with some quality books and resources to get them excited about reading. Another area where my students really need help is keyboarding. They need to become better typists for the state mandated testing in the spring.
Our students come from a variety of different cultural, intellectual, and economic backgrounds; classroom teachers, as well as itinerants, work hard to make sure students are getting the quality education that they deserve.
Students come to school here each day excited to learn and ready for a new adventure! It is important for my students to have a space where they can create and experiment with technology.
My Project
I am looking to provide my students with new and innovative ways to learn computer science. The new CS standards just came out for my state, and there is such a need for computer science education at the elementary level. I am working to build a program from the ground up, and I am looking for resources for my students to help them to be successful. We need a a Microsoft Surface Go and case.
My students are very interested in learning to code and how to solve problems with computational thinking.
It is so important to foster that curiosity and give my students the resources to help them learn, explore, research, and, of course, play!
