My Students

I teach at a rural Oklahoma school. Many of my students face the effects of poverty on a daily basis, but they are motivated to continue writing their stories.

My students are the backbone of our community.

These are the children who will change the future of our area, and I want to support them in that task. Education is the key factor to ending generational poverty, and it is my goal to motivate them to achieve all of their educational goals.

My Project

Finding high-interest nonfiction reading material can be difficult, but Scholastic Scope helps to fill that gap. My students need access to Scholastic Scope to improve their nonfiction literacy skills.

Scholastic Scope also provides the vocabulary and reading level supports that are so vital to many emerging readers.

By supporting this project, you are supporting literacy development in my classroom. By building nonfiction literacy skills, my students will not only improve their reading levels, they will also become more interested in current events. With the spread of unreliable news sources, the students will benefit from Scholastic's digital literacy tools as well.
