My students all have a major disability. The majority of my students are severely autistic. I also have a couple students with Down syndrome. Because of the severity of their autism, their behavior can make it very difficult for them to participate in normal classrooms or go on field trips.
We want to give the students a way to deal with their behavior in a positive way.
The majority of my students need a way to get their aggression out and learn how to be a productive member in society. This project will provide that for these kids.
I want to give these kids a place to learn, to become themselves, and to learn social skills.
My Project
My students need a place to get their wiggles out. We have a brand new building, but it has only desks in the room. We have a room that is suppose to help meet sensory needs. Last year we had LEGO and blocks, but that was it.
I want to give these kids large motor sensory items with the crash pad and indoor therapy swing.
They need to have an outlet for when they need a break. We want to keep it a positive enforcement.
The donations to this project will allow the students to have a sensory room to get their wiggles or aggression out safely.
I am trying to make a room that will have large motor sensory items. The other half of the room will have quiet sensory items such as fish, puzzles, and LEGO for those that just want a quiet break.
