Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class is known as Ms. Carrasco's Wise Owls and once they become a Wise Owl, they will forever be one. During our school year, we become family and our classroom becomes our home away from home.
My students enter the classroom ready to learn, excitement in their eyes as they sit down to start their day, and begin their new adventure.
We explore, learn, and make mistakes. We learn to make decisions for ourselves and to become leaders. Of course as any 5 to 6 year olds in a full day kindergarten classroom we have a lot of wiggling and moving around. We also learn about differences. We start the year with different students, different learning abilities, and different learning styles.
My Project
My students need flexible seating in the classroom to help them move and focus. They need to get their wiggles out to stay focused and on task in class. Students need to move. When students cannot move, they become distracted or disruptive to themselves or others. It also gives the student a choice therefore, it gives the student control over their own environment and makes them feel comfortable in the classroom. Thus, creating a comfortable classroom environment for all to enjoy learning and become more productive. It is also benefits students with ADHD and Autism because of the sensory input as the sense of touch helps student stay focus and process information.
