My students have such a love for school and learning. They tell me everyday, "I love coming to your school!" What more can I ask for? 25 amazing kids come to my classroom everyday with smiles on their faces and ready to learn.
I teach at a Title 1 School in Southern California where 90% of students receive free or reduced lunch.
Many of my student have limited resources at home to extend their learning. They come to school each day willing and ready to learn. They love reading. Anytime we are able to add new books to our classroom they gleam with excitement. I want their love for education to grow as they move on from kindergarten. These students are our future and I want to ensure they are prepared for higher education and careers.
My Project
I am requesting books to fill our classroom library. My students need a variety books that they can read independently to support their literacy.
I want my students to love reading.
Offering them a variety of interesting and colorful books that they can read independently will help foster this love for reading.
These leveled books have sentence structure and words that my students can read. The colorful and detailed pictures will peak interest and allow them to use the pictures to help them read the stories. Students will have access to these books during literacy centers where they read independently. Students will also be able to shop for books to read weekly. This allows students to chose what books they would like to read which will give them a sense of ownership and responsibility.
