My second graders are curious, spunky and eager to learn. They march through the door with huge smiles on their faces. Most of my students speak a language other than English at home. This means that they are learning to read and write in another language while also mastering grade level standards.
Our school is located in Portland, Oregon.
We are a Title I school, where 100% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. The majority of my students are economically disadvantaged, but do not lack in enthusiasm for learning. Our school has 30 different languages! We have students from all over the world. Many of our families are coming to the US as refugees. Our school is a special place because of its diversity and sense of community.
Organizational materials like a cabinet with bins and book boxes are critical in a well-functioning classroom. These items will help my students navigate the class independently and not waste time trying to locate things. This cabinet will not only maximize space in our crowded classroom, but also allow students to access math manipulatives independently, when they need them.
When students know what to expect and how to access the materials they need, they have more time and brain power to devote to learning and mastering new skills.
Students will be able to take pride in our classroom with these organizational materials.
It rains a lot in Portland! When it rains, my students stay in inside for recess. The Legos, Magnatiles, and K'nects are highly engaging educational toys. They will be a great way for students to apply their engineering and geometry skills through play. They can also be used to during math and science.
Overall, these materials will continue to fuel our thirst for knowledge! Thank you so much for your support.
