As a coach of many young athletes, how do I ensure that my players have been prepared for the daily rigors in life? How do you make sure that they continue to move forward on every obstacle that they encounter? By being positive! And to do this I want to stimulate my players minds through the use of literacy within our football program.
Positive, engaged leaders, and teams produce significant results.
These young men and women are a special group of kids that work extremely hard at everything that they do. We want them to excel not only on the classroom but on the field by becoming superior teammates and exceptional leaders. Our student athletes come from working-class families. Many of these families come from the fishing industry or serve our country in the military.
With this project I plan to have my athletes engaged through literacy groups. I want them to read the book and discuss one of the 10 rules and then present them to the rest of the team. They can present through the use of skits, videos, or any other types of media that they may be interested in using. With technology these days I will have the ability to spread the lessons that they learned throughout the team by using social media. After, we complete the project they will sign the book that they read and pass it on from one team to another from year to year.
The Energy Bus: 10 Rules to Fuel Your Life, Work, and Team with Positive Energy!
Jon Gordon's Energy Bus book will provide us the opportunity to work on team building, and we need team building! This will help our student athletes learn how to deal with the negatives that they may encounter in any situation in there lives.
