Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have a positive attitude about school. They are ready to learn and work hard towards achieving a better education.
My students are fifth graders, who enjoy a school environment where working in creative and innovative tasks develops their minds, and provides them with the support and guidance in their education.
Our school serves about 1100 students in grades 1st-6th. Our community is high poverty, and our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Our school is also part of a Food Bank program that feeds about 500 of our families. The staff along with parent volunteers help create a safe learning environment for our students.
My Project
I am requesting scoop ball and catch pad equipment so that P. E. becomes a fun and exciting time. Getting my students motivated during P.E. time is a struggle. They think of P.E. as the time to run laps, do push ups, and crunches. We are preparing for the Fitness test and the students are struggling to get active.
Having the right tools will give students a chance to get moving, and it will improve their physical health.
Motivating students to do exercise while making it fun for them, will engage them in active play and encourage them to make healthier life choices. The scoop ball and catch pads will encourage individual student participation, as well as partner and whole group. The chance to get active will be a great way to re-energize P.E. time.
