I am a 6th grade coteacher in a 6th grade English Language Arts class. My ELA class has a mix of "typical" students and students with IEPs.
My students are are creative and passionate students who are working hard to become better readers, writers and independent thinkers.
Most of the students in our class are not "conventional" learners and require additional supports in all areas of the classroom. Each student brings their own unique set of needs to the classroom, but they all share the common desire to be a better person, both academically and personally, when they leave the classroom. My students are a diverse bunch of students who all share the same desire to be successful and grow each year.

My Project
Our dwindling school budget often means that there is little room for new class sets of novels. I believe that each student should have their own book to read/follow along during our classroom read alouds. The books that we currently use are falling apart and we do not have enough for all students to have their own. Most of the books are held together with tape and are different. I need to announce 3 different pages when we do a read aloud, depending on the type/age of the book in each students hands. I would like to use the "old" books for students to use at home or when they require extra help and use the new books for classroom activities.
