My Students

Our school is very small, with only one class per grade level. As a teacher of students in a low-income and rural area, I see many of my students face challenges (in and out of the classroom) on a daily basis. They work hard but are full of energy. My students are first graders, so they can be fidgety at times and can sometimes lack motivation. Allowing them to be comfortable while they work will help my students stay motivated and excited to learn.

My Project

Children in first grade do not always find it easy to sit and work for extended periods of time. Educational demands for these students have increased quite a bit over the years. Allowing students to be flexible with their seating in the classroom helps them by increasing both focus and motivation. Every student learns in a unique way. Various seating options allow students to have a classroom where they can take ownership of their learning by choosing a seating option that helps them to work at their best. Flexible seating creates a comfortable space for students to learn and grow.
