Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine being an immigrant in this country, yet having the ability to proudly share American culture with others. You are finally able to share knowledge of this new country you now call home with other children across the globe! This is exactly what my students will have the opportunity to do!
I have the most amazing talented inner-city immigrant children that are always willing to learn and grow as every day is a new chance that they did not have before.
They have encountered problems and situations simply to achieve the American Dream. Some have even walked to this country for a better life! Our school services K-8 and we have a high bilingual population. Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now achieve amazing heights at our school . My students have come from all around the world, from many different and often difficult situations. They hold the American Dream, but need the tools to make them successful.
My Project
Remember sitting in math class so confused and all you can think about is your favorite song while tapping your pencil to the beat? Well, imagine the power of math and music as one. This is what Flocabulary will do for my classroom- create a fun and hip learning environment.
The one thing that children struggle with in my class besides language is making a connection between the real world and their learning.
Flocabulary will be the connection my kids will be able to see. Through music, which we all can connect through, they will be able to rap to the facts, jam with justice laws, sing to the point of view and other endless possibilities. Flocabulary will enhance my classroom and engage students.
