Most of my students are English language learners from different cultural backgrounds, some of whom are new refugees with little to no English. They are extremely eager to learn and are wonderful children.
Most of my students come from low-income households.
Though this may impact their lives at home, my goal is to provide the best for my students at school. Hopefully, you can help make this happen.
My students enter the room with smiles on their faces every day and are eager to learn. They love school and look forward to learning every day. They make my job incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.
My Project
My first graders love reading workshop time. All my students have their own reading baskets filled with books at their own level. Everyone gets to read books first independently and then with a partner. During this time students practice skills taught in the mini lesson.
Most of my advanced readers do not have many books to choose from.
I have very few books that are above the first grade level, yet I always have at least a few students that are reading at a second, third, or even fourth grade reading level. Please help to give these students books to read that are just right for them, such as the second grade leveled books I am requesting.
