My students need stools, lap desks, stability balls, and soft seats.

My students need a few things to help complete our flexible seating classroom.
My students remind me on a daily basis of all the things that are great about the world.
They are truly the best part of my job. If you have forgotten about what true wonder and curiosity looks like, spend a day in my second grade classroom!
I have a classroom full of energetic second graders. They love working in groups and are so young and full of life! I have a lot to teach them during their second grade year, and sometimes, they have a hard time sitting still. I can't blame them. They're 7 and 8 years old, and their excitement over life and learning just can't be contained in a regular classroom chair.
Second graders are expected to learn a great deal, and because they are young and full of energy, it is often difficult for them to sit still. Standard desks and chairs aren't the learning environment that is best for every student. Flexible seating allows students to choose the seating options that are best for them to acquire knowledge.
Flexible Seating Rocks!!

Flexible seating is a way to teach choice, learning style, and responbility to our students. As teachers it is our responsibility to cultivate respectful, responsible, global citizens.
Part of that task, is allowing them to make decisions for themselves. By allowing them to have the option to pick a best fit seat, my students will learn how to determine which learning environment is best for them and be comfortable while taking in information. Some of the options that I have requested are the stability balls, stools, lap desks, and soft seats. These materials will enable my students to make positive choices about their work styles and how they learn best. Flexible seating is a great option for my learners that experience self control. These students having choice is a vital part of creating a tightly knit learning community. Making decisions about how they learn encourages students to take ownership of their learning and responsibility for maintain the materials they use.
