My students need alternate seating in the classroom to help them find a space that works best for them. The balance ball chair and yoga mats will give students more options.
Many of my fifth grade students might not have an abundance of financial resources, but what they do have is an abundance of curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
My students are very diverse learners.
Recent test scores show them at various levels, with some well below grade level, while others are scoring high above grade level norms. Some of them need additional support to learn the English language, and some of them need additional support to become strong mathematicians. One thing that they have in common is their love for learning.
My Project
My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning.
Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable.
With the requested resources, students will be able to bounce on an exercise ball or sit/kneel on the yoga mats. These options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning.
This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom.
