Help me give my students healthy, filling food to alleviate hunger over the weekends during the school year. Food items include macaroni and cheese, peanut butter crackers, 100% juice, goldfish, granola bars, fruit cups, applesauce, and veggie straws.
Our students are extraordinary! At our elementary school, students as young as four years old learn that they have the potential to be a leader - in our school, at home, and in our community. Most importantly, they are learning to be leaders of themselves!
We set high expectations for our students, and they strive to achieve these goals.
However, it becomes very difficult for our students to succeed when they have hungry bellies. With most of our student population at or below the poverty level this year, we feel the need to provide our students with nutritious food once a week is even greater than before.
Research shows that when students' basic needs are met, they are much more able to grow and develop in academic and social/emotional areas. We would be beyond grateful if you decide once again to help us feed our students this school year!
My Project
We are so excited to see our students return after Summer break! Unfortunately, for many of our students summertime means not knowing where their next meal is coming from. Research shows that food insecurity and chronic hunger have a significant negative impact on physical health, as well as mental well-being, learning, and behavior.
For the past three years, we have been so blessed to meet the needs of our chronically hungry students through the generosity of donors like you.
We are counting on your help, once again, to stock our school food pantry which is completely funded through donations. Through your kindness, we plan to feed 100 students every weekend so that they can experience relief from hunger and stress and focus on what's important - learning, building positive relationships, and becoming the future leaders of our community!
