The library media center is a vibrant and evolving place that aims to be the hub of the school that touches upon all students and staff. We are an active place of learning and exploration.
We are the English Language Learner elementary school for the district and serve a diverse range of students.
To support that diversity and natural student energy, the library is very much alive. It is also not just about the books on the shelves or how we remember it as a child. The library is focused on exposing students to the positive and creative uses of technology. Our Makerspace is a new and growing section of the library where we foster hands-on learning.
My Project
Students love computer science and hands-on learning. Dash and Dot robots from Wonder Workshop are the basis of our robotics club and are part of the library makerspace. We want to expand our offerings to include the new launchers to take our challenges to the next level.
Students crave the ability to handle technology.
By adding another set of Cubelets, students will be able to put their scientific thinking to the test and to build their own robots. The erector set will also add to our existing building materials for our youngest students. They love to build everything in the makerspace.
Access to technology in the world is not equal and yet the library remains committed to providing all students a place to learn and grow.
