"This is my favorite class!" a student exclaims at the end of the first week of classes. It is a compliment to me when my students are engaged with the material.
Our school serves 9-12th graders in a small community setting.
We serve the population of the South Bronx. We place an emphasis on developing critical thinking through inquiry and project-based instruction. Our goal is to empower young people to solve and resolve, collaborate and create, and develop the intellectual and social skills to become thoughtful and engaged members of their communities.
Recently, I purchased a material on Teachers Pay Teachers that involves an "escape the room" workshop for my students. I would like to have durable, long-lasting materials to conduct multiple workshops throughout the year to reinforce concepts taught in class. Rather than listening to a boring lecture to teach concepts, the students will engage in an "escape room" with their classmates.
The locks and toolboxes will provide the necessary materials to conduct more "escape the room" workshops in my classroom.
They would allow my students to feel like they are solving the puzzle and unlocking the boxes to find the key to escape the room.
