My junior high aged, special needs (severe and profound/intellectually disabled) students are learning life skills and job skills. Before we can master those skills, we must first work on our gross motor and fine motor skills.
My students are very deserving and eager to learn, but we are limited in our resources.
It is very expensive to educate students with abilities and disabilities of this type. These kids learn very well when working with their hands, but our resources have either run out or are just plain old.
My Project
My students need fine motor skills activities, such as 2 Scoop-A-Bug sorting kits and a Grab'n' Go Sorting Set. My students will be more successful in class and in life given the chance to develop their gross motor and fine motor skills. The activities I have requested will promote learning in the most positive and successful way. My kids learn by doing. The visual and tactile stimulation involved in the activities will also promote and enhance learning, because as research suggest, special needs students are visual and tactile learners. Before I can teach specific job skills, I need to build up their fine motor and gross motor skills. These activities will allow me to strengthen muscles that they might need to perform job tasks.
Your donation will improve the quality of life in a disabled child.
These deserving students will learn skills that will carry them to high school and adulthood. When we fine tune our motor skills, other skills and activities become better. These activities will also help the students have a sense of purpose and give them a job skill they can use well after their school years.
