Every day my students are anxious and eager to get involved in some hands-on and real life learning projects. Designing and printing 3D houses will be a perfect way for them to develop skills and have fun making something they will be excited about.
My students are on track with a Utah Career and Technical Education pathway with a focus in Technology and Engineering or Skilled and Technical trades.
They are students who gravitate to these fields and love working in teams and doing hands-on projects.
My Project
By printing 3D houses using PLA filament, my students are able to develop their creativity and design skills. They have the opportunity to create hands-on projects that they can be proud of and take home. Students will first be designing custom houses by hand and will then be designing them on 3D modeling programs on the computer. When the house has been properly drawn, they will 3D print it in their chosen color. We need an assortment of filament for our 3D printer.
Rather than being limited to reading books, this kind of project allows students to develop real life experience with raw materials and industrial tools.
