Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, compassionate, and motivated. In our room, students benefit from the diverse abilities, interests, and needs of their classmates. We strive to better ourselves everyday and work hard to ensure that we are positive examples for our community.
The majority of my class is performing well below grade level in math and reading.
While grade level content is challenging for them, I love their enthusiasm for learning and their motivation and eagerness to want to improve.
Our school has a beautiful community made of students from around the city. We embrace and celebrate our students and their accomplishments.
My Project
My goal is to create a print-rich classroom where my students can enjoy an assortment of novels that will enhance their love for reading. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy. Right now our bookcases are starting to fall apart and are in desperate need for a replacement. Due to the high number of books in our library, we really need another bookcase to display our books. In addition to a new bookcase, I am asking for some additional novels to be added to our library. Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and I have also asked them what type of books they would enjoy reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to grow as a reader.
With these new books, and bookcase my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
