This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Every student is an artist in first grade but we only have construction paper to create with - we need more supplies to let our creativity run wild!
My students have a lot of personality and character.
They are fun and energetic and need structure and routine but also lots of movement and change throughout the day. There is a wide range of abilities in one room. Our school is in an urban school district with a population that is mostly minority with a low socio-economic status.
My Project
These exciting art supplies would 'wow' my students. They absolutely love art, and I wish that I could provide more variety in our art projects but with limited supplies, that's not possible. These fun paints, markers, wiki sticks, pom poms, googly eyes, and glitter would allow us to create so many more projects. My students deserve a time to let their imaginations run wild.
Unfortunately, my students do not have an art teacher so they are stuck with me and our meager classroom supplies to create new projects.
With only construction paper, I'm running out of ideas. Help me bring out the inner artist in all of my students!
