Imagine a classroom where all students are appropriately challenged, independently working, and highly engaged all at the same time. Chromebooks could make this dream a reality.
Teaching middle school students from a wide variety of backgrounds and academic levels, I am always searching for materials that will captivate, motivate, and educate a wide variety of learners.
Having these Chromebooks will allow my students to create and collaborate, to share, and connect. Specifically, students will have the opportunity to watch short videos in the Spanish individually so that they'll be able to stop, rewind, repeat, and go at their own pace to ensure comprehension. They will also be able to upload videos with sound to demonstrate their learning.
Providing my students with Chromebooks will allow them to have access to the Internet to explore the culture of the Spanish-speaking world. They will be able to go beyond the textbook in their quest for knowledge. as the teacher of students with real access to these resources, I will be able to differentiate individual student for students of varying levels of ability.
My Project
Having a Chromebook for each student in my classes will allow them to watch short authentic videos in Spanish, and stop, rewind, and listen again to ensure comprehension. Students will listen with headphones, language lab style, so that they are not distracted by anything. Students will be able to answer some questions about what they've seen, to show comprehension.
I want to inspire my students to be lifelong language learners, and being able to hear and see people in Spanish-speaking countries will help me achieve that!
Here are some of the other activities that I will be able to do with Chromebooks; Quizlet Live, Duolingo, listening to music, Google Classroom assignments, and Kahoot.
