This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from various backgrounds (Title 1-Low Income). Regardless of their economic and family dynamics, they have one goal: learn! My goal, as their teacher, is to make learning fun while encouraging critical thinking skills. Also, I hope to see academic growth from each of my students. I enjoy observing my students work collaboratively as they prepare for life in this age of technological advancement! Lastly, I desire to see my students academically compete on a district, state, national, and global scale!
My Project
My students have fallen in love with activities that incorporate both art and math. They love to practice their multiplication facts by completing color the product sheets. Fractions are much more fun when they can draw and design pizza orders. In addition to math, my students can use these art supplies when planning various science projects. A simple pack of crayons, a pair of scissors, and a glue stick can increase a 3rd grader's interest in learning by 100%.
We began the school year with limited school supplies, and we are currently experiencing an art supply shortage.
