My Students

I work with preschool aged-5th grade students who have been identified with communication disorders such as Autism, Apraxia, stuttering, receptive and/or expressive language disorders, and articulation disorders ranging from mild to severe. These communication disorders have an impact on their ability to communicate with peers and adults across all settings at school, home, and in the community. Many of the students are non-verbal and require the use of picture supports to help them communicate in the classroom and home setting.

My Project

This all-in-one printer will be used to print photos and pictures of highly desired items for students with minimal communication skills. It will enable them to request these highly desired items and improve their communication skills. It will be also used to print a variety of pictures to be used with specifically designed language activities to increase their language skills.

Improving the language skills of students is crucial to their overall success in their daily life.

The use of color pictures is more effective than black and white in achieving these goals. This will enable them to be successful communicators in the entire school setting.
