I am proud to call myself a lifelong Brooklynite. I'm even prouder to say that I teach Language Arts and Reading to a terrific group of 8th Graders at a Title I middle school in beautiful Brooklyn, New York. Many of my students face challenges on a daily basis that most of us cannot even dream of, yet they are always looking to the future and for a better life. They know that with hard work and determination, they can make the world a better place.
My Project
When I hear parents talking around back to school times, they are often complaining good naturedly about all of the items they need to send their child back to school with. The supply list seems to go on and on, BUT as a teacher at a Title I school, the supply list can be a real cause of stress and heartbreak to parents who struggle to put food on the table. Over the years, I have strived to pare down what i ask for and instead ask those of you who want to help support public education to help out.
We need simple cleaning items such as tissues, hand sanitizer, and disenfectant wipes.
As you can imagine, tissues and hand sanitizer are a must in just about EVERY classroom since cold and flu season will be upon us soon after we meet in September. Other cleaning supplies will help us to take ownershp of our surroundings and help us to improve our classroom enviornment.
Please help us to to be our best by giving us the items we need to be the superstars we know we are!
