My Students

Our class mission statement is, "I can make today the very best day by the things that I do and the things that I say." We recite our mission daily. We are working towards being a Sean Covey Lighthouse Leadership school.

My class consists to 22 six and seven year old first graders who are excited to come to school each day.

Our school is a Title I school (which means a certain percentage of our students live in poverty). Currently, 66% of the students at our school receive free or reduced price school lunch.

My Project

I have requested a digital camera to document my students' learning throughout the school year. I love to document my students' learning. I take photos every chance I get and post them to a blog. At the end of the year, I give all of the students a disk with the photos from the year on it. I have parents sign a photo release at the beginning of the year. I want my students to have good memories of learning. I strive to create life long learners.

First grade is am exciting time in a child's education where many memories are made.

First grade is vital for building foundational skills for the future. I hope documenting our learning will help create meaning for my young students, so they will strive to learn throughout their lives.
