This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher and coach in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They have the passion they need to be successful, but they lack materials. The girls that are on this team includes high school as well as middle school girls. They are some of the most passionate players I have ever coached. No student should have their potential limited to their economy.
My Project
My yearbook program is completely student ran. This includes everything from taking pictures, to editing, to layouts of the yearbook. I am a new advisor and the program inherited old, outdated cameras that do not produce the best pictures. This camera will change the game for my students. They have the passion, the motivation, and the creativity. The only thing they are missing is the equipment to be the whole package. This camera and lens will be used by the students to take action shots at ball games as well as capturing at the special memories that happen in our little school.
