Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school every day excited to learn! My school is a Title I school with 92.9% of students coming from low-income families. There is a high percentage of Latinos at my school. I teach students who are learning English as a second language.
My students may come from low-income homes, but they are motivated to do well in school, and they enjoy learning!
I teach 3rd through 8th grade Special Education. My students have various disabilities including Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, Emotional Disturbance, ADHD, Other Health Impairment, and Learning Disabilities.
My Project
My students need weighted vests of different sizes. I have many students with Autism, ADHD, or Other Health Impairments. My students struggle with staying focused in class and staying still in their seats and in the hallway.
My students need weighted vests to help reach their sensory needs so they can focus on their academics.
Weighted vests would help calm my students down. This would allow their bodies to be still so they can focus on their school work. I teach students from grades 2nd-8th grade, which is why I need a variety of weighted vest sizes. My students would greatly benefit from these weighted vests!
