My classroom has special needs students with a range of disabilities including autism. They are bright, intelligent, inquisitive individuals who need special tools to help the be more successful in school.
Our school is a Title I school with most of the students qualifying for free and reduced price lunch.
The students want to be like their peers and need help with handling academics and learning skills to regulate their emotions and sensory needs. They are fun individuals with a great sense of humor and understanding towards others.
My Project
The students will use the noise buffering headphones to help minimize the noise from the classroom and surrounding rooms. This is crucial to them staying focused, on task and in control. The chewelry will help with sensory needs and provide them movement and help with their oral fixations. The students will use the Chromebook to conduct research and gain access to online curriculum.
This project will help my students stay focused by minimizing distractions and fulfilling their sensory needs.
It will help give them the tools they need to be able to regulate their own needs and help them feel confident in gaining academic skills commiserate with their peers.
