My Students
I teach fifth grade at a suburban school in Oklahoma. My students come from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are a diverse and unique bunch. Each day, we strive to do the very best we can. We are a Title I school, and a large percentage of our students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch.
Our school is a learning community.
We try to meet the needs of every student and challenge them to set and reach goals each and every day.
My Project
As teachers, we love the public library. We use it for everything! Unfortunately, our local public library is severely lacking in the latest and greatest books on the practice of education. This is when the idea of an on-site professional resource library came to mind.
I am requesting several books that reflect the latest, modern strategies for teaching literacy, math, and science. These books will be the start of a library for all of our teachers to use. They will be able to check out books that they are interested in and, in turn, improve their teaching craft. Through our teachers, these books will benefit every student at our school.
