Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students brighten my day from the moment they walk into our classroom until the second they leave. As my students enter the classroom each morning, I am greeted with smiles, stories, questions, and my very favorite "Mrs. W, how are you doing over there?" My students have a wide range of disorders that affect the way that they process, understand and communicate information. My classroom consists of students that are in the 4th, 5th and 6th grade.
My students all have different abilities that require different methods of instruction and materials to help them learn to the best of their ability.
My students come to school each day knowing that more than their educational needs will be met. Our school provides each student with free breakfast, a healthy snack at recess and free lunch. Our school also has social and emotional supports for our students if they are needed.
My Project
These Lego building sets will help keep my students busy hands busy while working as a class to construct a community.
My students learn best when they are able to create with their hands.
By having these Legos in our classroom my students will be able to build a community that they are able to learn from. My students will design each section of the community prior to building it and explain the importance of the that building. We will also use the classroom community to practice social skills that would be involved with each area of the community. These Legos will be the highlight our our classroom!
