One of the most popular centers in my classroom is the Art Studio, which I created 7 years ago when my school opened. I took an unused space and turned it into a place for creative thought.
I teach in an inclusive preschool classroom in a large urban school district.
Two sessions of preschoolers enter my classroom enthusiastic to learn every day. Some of my students have special needs and are working on their fine-motor, gross-motor, speech and communication as well as cognitive skills. Many of my students are English Language Learners. All my students love creating art.
My Project
A true open-ended creative process requires access to a variety of materials. It is amazing to see what my students can create with paper, markers, glue and stickers. They come up with ideas that I would never think of. I'm constantly being asked for more paper, glue and stickers. However, our supplies are dwindling. Please help me replenish our much needed supplies for our open-ended art studio! I am requesting a variety of stickers, different types and colors of paper, markers and scissors with different edges to enhance their open ended art and collages in the art studio.
Your contributions will help my students work through the creative process of the visual arts.
They will use the materials daily during our self-selected free play time in our art studio. I can't wait to share with you their creations!
