My students need toothbrushes and storage cases, dental health books, posters, demonstration materials, and a set of steps to assist in reaching the sink.
Help me to help my students brighten their smiles!! I am a preschool teacher in the state of Kentucky. I have 40 students in my classroom, 20 in my morning class and 20 in my afternoon class. Half of my students have a diagnosed disability or delay, 73% are English language learners and 92% qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Many of the students in my classes do not have supplies or the opportunity to care for their teeth at home. The majority of the families are considered very low-income and toothbrushes and toothpaste are not at the top of their priority list. I have many students with holes in their teeth, caps over primary teeth, and broken or stained front teeth. I have had several students crying at the breakfast or lunch table while they are trying to eat due to the discomfort from their dental health issues. Please help me to educate and provide opportunities for these precious little ones to care for their teeth while they are at school.
I am looking for your assistance to help these children brighten their beautiful smiles with the following materials: classroom demonstration aids so that the children can actually see the proper way to brush and floss their teeth, books and posters related to dental health that puts the information in a child-friendly, easy to understand format, toothbrushes for each child, storage cases for the morning and afternoon classes, and a set of steps to aid the children in reaching the sink.
Your help will make it possible for my students to have the opportunity to be proud of their magnificent smiles. The preschool years represent a monumental time in a child's life. If we can intervene early, we can help them to understand the importance of practicing healthy self-care routines like brushing their teeth. Help me to help these students understand how important it is to care for their teeth and to keep their bodies healthy.
