Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a nonprofit, community-based, charter school dedicated to creating an environment that fosters high expectations and excellence for all students. In addition to valuing the knowledge of language and culture, we provide students with a clear sense of identity, a positive attitude toward learning and effective communication skills.
My school serves primarily Hispanic students.
Ninety seven percent of the student population identifies as Hispanic and 78% of the population is economically disadvantaged.
We are currently working on changing the mathematics curriculum to better foster individualized learning and prepare students for learning in the 21st century!
My Project
Our math department is looking to transform our math classes! We want students to practice the eight standards for mathematical practices, which include modeling with mathematics and using appropriate tools strategically.
Your donation would provide supplies and games to help us achieve our goal!
Your donation would provide our classroom with games to practice order of operations, stopwatches to conduct mathematical experiments, blank number lines for students to practice adding or subtracting integers, and basic calculators to help the algebra students solve challenging equations! It will also provide a large magnetic set for students to visualize customary units of capacity and volume!
