My students are amazing, multicultural, unique people that bring their hearts to school every day. Our community is very diverse, and that brings so much fun and personality to my class. We are a 7th grade ELA class, and we have from 20-25 scholars per class.
We are building a community and culture in our school that is inclusive of all of our students, and our culture gives our students confidence and a safe space to flourish.
My goal as their teacher is to give them every opportunity possible for them to succeed. With the help of DonorsChoose, I will have a classroom library which reflects each student, and I will develop an incentive program to get those books into their hands. My Project
Hello! Thank you for stopping in to read about my class. I am a first year ELA teacher in a Title I school. I have been building my library from scratch since I accepted my position. That being said, I want to grow my library even more. My students are amazing in so many ways because they are all unique and my classroom is diverse. I want my classroom library to reflect my students, and I want them to be motivated to read. I plan to accomplish this a few different ways. First, I want to increase the number of books in my library.
Not only do I want to increase the number of books in my library, but I want them to be written by authors with characters that look and sound like my students.
I also want to develop a reading incentive program, but I need the supplies to get it started. I appreciate you SO much.
