I work with the youngest scholars in an urban preschool setting. My students are a diverse group of 3, 4, and 5 year olds. Most come from high poverty homes. 78% of the students at my school qualify for free and reduced lunch. I work with typically developing students as well as those with a wide variety of special needs. Most of my students have speech, language, and communication impairments. Some are learning English for the first time. I also have students with special needs including autism, motor concerns, sensory concerns, and those who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
My Project
My students are curious and eager to learn new things. The Bee-Bot programmable robot will help introduce early coding and engineering skills to my diverse group of young scholars. The Bee-Bot robot will also allow them to practice early math skills including sequencing, estimation, beginning addition and subtraction, and problem solving.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is an important aspect of early childhood education, and I do not want my students to be left behind!
This age scholar learns best through play and hands on experiences. Using the Bee-Bot robots in their classroom with their peers will give them many opportunities to practice turn taking, sharing, and social interactions.
Thank you for helping my students BEE-come future engineers!
