My students love science. They love learning about it and engaging in it in any way. Right now, they have the interest, but my class lacks some good science materials to help them continue their love for science.
I currently have 9 students: 8 boys and 1 girl.
My students are in 3rd through 5th grade, and learn at a kinder-4th grade level. All of my students are on the autism spectrum. They all come from low-income to middle income families, and most of them are English language learners. Some of my students are non-verbal, but still love engaging in learning. The students who are verbal have a difficult time engaging in the general education classes and curriculum because of their unique needs. Every one of my students loves learning about science and doing science experiments.
Every single one of my students is also a visual/kinesthetic learner and needs materials to help them learn this way.
My Project
My students love science. Some of them know more about certain science topics than I do. Right now, I do not have the materials and resources I would love to have for my classroom. With these science materials, my students will be able to learn by doing. They will be able to read science materials that interests them. The experiments and materials contained in this request would allow my students to see why things are the way they are. They will better be able to understand cause and effect.
These materials will be able to provide for visual learning that I do not currently have in my classroom. My students need visual, hand-on learning to both help them understand the material and become more engaged in what they are learning about. I know that my students would love to make use of these materials.
The Science Tubs and STEM lab would help my students become engaged in learning.
They would help them understand why they need science in their lives, and it would help in including both language arts and math in my science lessons. My students love science, and I want to provide them with the foundational skills to help them become future scientists.
