My students attend an inner city public school that consists of low-income families. Sadly, many of the students lack the resources and support to have technology experience at home. Despite their home environment, they are very inquisitive and have a strong desire to learn. School is the only place that offers opportunities for students to explore, interact, experience, and learn.
Unfortunately, with budget cuts, our schools are having difficulty providing the necessary provisions to help our students prepare and compete in the 21st century.
As the new technology teacher, I have been using the free version of Nearpod - an interactive slide show tool that engages students and promotes collaboration - in our lessons and my students have fallen in love. They come in excited and ready to learn when they know it's a Nearpod day. With the class sizes going past the maximum some students aren't able to join in.
This resource can be used for technology, including digital citizenship, as well as virtual field trips.
With a platinum membership, I will have access to all Nearpod lessons without any additional cost. With this access, I will be able to allow students to interact with the lessons at their own pace and demonstrate what they have learned by completing interactive activities. Some of these interactive activities include matching, filling in the blank, and even drawing examples of content knowledge!
