My students need a new white board easel. Our old one is falling apart. We also need more chess sets, so that our whole class can learn and practice together.
I have a wonderful class of energetic and creative first-graders. They love learning about anything and everything.
I teach 1st-grade gifted and talented, in a Title I school, in Brooklyn.
My students love to learn, and soak up everything. Our school is a wonderful place, with a great culture. The students just love to be in school. Many students in my class take the bus, just to come to us.
My Project
We are in need of a new dry erase easel. The one that we have right now is broken, covered in tape, and unable to hold our class chess board, so that we can learn chess. The board is hard to write on, and isn't holding our chart paper, without it falling.
We also need more chess pieces, so that our whole class can learn chess together. Right now, we don't have chess pieces or boards for the whole class. We can't all play. Learning chess increases problem solving skills, memory, creativity, and concentration. There are so many benefits to learning chess!
This project will allow us to have a working dry erase easel, which will allow us to better learn across all subjects.
It makes a difference when the chart paper and chess boards aren't falling off the easel. The chess boards will help us learn chess, which will help in all academic areas.
