Help Us Become Future Mathematicians and Scientists!
My students need help in becoming 21st century learners, and these laptops will give them the opportunity to research their projects and design them online.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with students with autism, emotional disorders, and learning disabilities. I am very lucky to be a chapter in these students' lives. They have regained their self-esteem. We have built a classroom environment on the basis that anything is possible. All you need to do is take that first step.I have 13 amazing special education students who are ready to break the learning gap, but it has become much more difficult due to budget cuts. Our school is in a low income community and resources are limited. 92% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Most of my students parents cannot afford some sort of technology, much less WIFI. I am trying to prepare my students to become 21st Century Learners; and even though they are faced with all these setbacks, they continue to show determination to succeed. I cannot wait to see how much they will learn using technology. The endless opportunities await my students. They can do more research for their informative essays, watch time lapse videos on erosion, compare and order fractions, learn how to code, etc.... There are so many things they can learn having the technology at their fingertips. I can't wait!
My Project
These Chromebooks will help my students by accessing the web for research, coding, designing and engineering their projects. They will use Google slides, sheets and docs for their work. I want them prepared for college.
One way they will be used is as a STEM center.
Students can look up pictures of catapults and then design their own using nothing more than Popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and Pom-poms. Another way they will be used is by recording the results of an experiment. Recently, we investigated how erosion works. Students could take pictures of their projects that represent erosion and record observations through notes. They could collaborate on group findings by sharing through the google classroom.
We are a special education class, but we defy all labels and prove that that we too can break the gap and become whatever we want to be. I have future mathematicians, scientists, and engineers in my classroom. Having these laptops will help increase those chances.
