Imagine moving to a new country. You haven't learned to read or write yet, and you have this smiling teacher talking to you in a language you don't understand. These are some of the students I teach every day. I teach in a middle school that services a wide variety of students, including recent immigrants. We also have a high level of students who are part of the free breakfast and lunch program.
Despite hardships, most of my students are excited and eager to learn.
My curriculum doesn't just include reading and writing; we also look at relevant world and community events. My students work toward being productive and compassionate citizens of this technological age.
My Project
Some of my students have traveled the world, but most have never been out of their own community. There is so much they can do with these Chromebooks in the classroom.
A lot of my students would love to start an educational blog about what they learn in class, but do not have the resources at home.
I would like my students to have access to e-books that they could read in class when I do not have a copy of that book for them.
These Chromebooks will also make it possible for students to access educational learning games to get fun practice in areas they need to improve in. Once I have these Chromebooks, and you walk into my classroom, you will see them being used every day!
